The emergency repairs to the roof are now in progress. The first job was to create some temporary columns under the roof trusses which appeared to have dropped. While building the columns we attempted to jack the roof truss back into position.
First we attempted to use a 10 ton jack on a single prop. (scroll down to see more)
Then we used two props but ten tons of force still wouldn't lift it.
Even when we used four props and a 22 ton jack the roof still wouldn't lift. So we had to satisfy ourselves with just inserting the new timber columns. Correcting the sag in the roof trusses will have to await the permanent repairs.
The important thing is the building is now safe for the children to reoccupy it and resume classes.
